| He
came all the way from the Senate Office in Roxas Blvd., battled the long
traffic, but still came on-time. Upon his arrival, instead of going
straight to the Presidential Table where the officers of ANVIL was directing
him to, he opted to sit down at the lower table and had casual 'kuwentuhan'
with those who were present. The title COMPAÑERO indeed matches
our Special Guest, his status, achievements and fame certainly did not
affect the 'Down-to-Earth' attitude of this very respectable Legislator,
non other than Senator Renato 'Compañ ero' Cayetano.
Senator Cayetano is a very hard-working Senator and his concern on various problems that troubles our nation was certainly expressed to ANVIL. He pointed out his REAL intention in proposing the lowering of marrying age which was bombarded with criticism in media and public surveys. He also imparted his proposed solutions through filing of bills on issues such as Dumping of foreign products, improvement of peace and order, protection of stockmarket investors, effective solutions to traffic, and even the controversial VFA which concerns National security. He also informed us of his new television program on Channel Seven which is similar to his public service program that gives legal advice and assistance to the marginal sectors of society pro bono. His absence from his previous program in another channel certainly created so much clamors and requests which compelled Senator Cayetano to grab the chance to do his service to the poor via the TV program proving his critics wrong when they said that he only used his previous program to make a name and be elected to national office. Finally, the good Senator challenged Anvil Executive Club to strengthen the club and become a Voice that can contribute Suggestions and Opinions on issues that matters to our Nation. The affair was indeed inspirational to all ANVIL members having the chance to get to know upclose people like Sen. Cayetano to whom we have entrusted the mapping of our Nation's future. |
